instant oatmeal turns into paste. you really need OLD FASHION or steel cut oats, which are larger and don't turn into wall spackle when cooked.

i put splenda, some cinnamon, and sometimes a little natty PB in my oatmeal.

wall spackle - yep, that pretty much describes instant oatmeal.

Old Fashioned is much, much better. All my life, I thought I hated oatmeal, turned out, I just hate instant. Cinnamon, splenda, with a touch of either brown sugar or honey goes a long way (note: "touch of" does not mean 2 tablespoons)

Some great oatmeal combinations i have tried that I become addicted to.

Oatmeal and...

-Peanut Butter
-Any fruit with splenda and Kashi Go Lean
-Sugar free choc. syrup and protein powder
-unsweeted applesauce and splenda

Just a few, have more though. I hated it too, but now I love it.

hmm that sounds interesting.

I doubt i will try that anytime soon as the fat+carb combo really doesn't compute with my system which is why i had to give up my PB and Oatmeal but after this cut I will give that a shot myself.

Hey,

I have oatmeal everyday for breakfast and I am totally addicted. I could have oatmeal for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I know, I know...you can call me crazy, but anyways, the night before I take one cup of instant oatmeal flakes, put it in a bowl, and add water till it is fully submerged and place it in the fridge. The next morning before I get into the shower I take it out of the fridge and put it on the stove. Roughly 10 minutes later I come back and it is boiling. I add some crushed almonds and diced apple. I then turn off the stove and let it sit for 2-3 minutes. I then pour it out of the pan and add some honey or brown rice syrup. Mix it with the spoon and EAT. I love it and can't get enough of it.

Good luck and be creative. Add some other fruits or nuts. Good luck.!

The 2 guys who posted about steel cut oats are right on. They are nice little round oats, and they are delicious. I can almost eat them plain, but I usually add a hit of honey just to sweeten it up a tad. Along with a 2 scoop protein shake, I'm ready to hit the gym/start my day...
