Possibly why I cant fall asleep?

So I just found this information in an article, which may explain why I can't fall asleep. What do you guys think?

"6.1. Night time meal size and composition.

There is often a connection between the composition and size of your daily meals, and your sleep. Everyone responds differently to different meals, with some people reporting a high whole grain meal helps them fall asleep, while others report a high protein and/or high fat meals helps them sleep. Try experimenting with the following:

Dr. Sidney Baker, author of 'The Circadian Prescription', cites evidence that specific timing of carbohydrate and protein consumption optimises our circadian rhythm and improves sleep initiation and quality. His basic dietary suggestions include:

* 1. "Put protein in your morning meal, snacks and lunch. Emphasize fish, eggs, milk products (for those who can handle them), nuts, peanuts, soy, poultry, beans, and meat."
* 2. "Move most of your carbohydrates from breakfast, lunch, and morning snacks to the evening. After 4:00 p.m., your goal is to cut back on protein and emphasize healthy carbohydrate-rich foods like pasta, potato, sweet potato and other starchy vegetables, whole grain cereals, seeds, sprouts, and fruit."

Try Dr. Baker’s dietary recommendations for a few weeks and observe if any changes occur in your sleep or other aspects of your health. Another time try making the last meal you have before bed high in protein and low in carbohydrates for a few weeks. For example a non-starchy vegetable and meat/fish dish. Also compare the effect of large meals and small meals as your final meal for the day. You may notice a connection between different meals and your sleep"

Interesting. Can't hurt I guess so give it a go.

I have also read and found in personal experience that drinking lots of water (throughout the day-not just before bed) so that you are optimally hydrated makes you sleep better also.

I'm sorry, but I sleep like a baby and can sleep anytime, anywhere.

Just had to rub it in

Ah, but I'm one of those people who will pass out after eating a lot of simple carbs. Put enough sugar in me, and I'm out within an hour. Eating any big meal also puts me to sleep, as all the blood rushes away from my head to my organs.

You'll never know unless you experiement with how your body reacts to stuff. And if you hadn't noticed before, now you know what to look for.

You might want to look into Soy if you're thinking about adding it to your diet. I've read a lot of bad stuff about it, this is a good article TESTOSTERONE NATION - Soy is Still Bad Protein

I don't want lactating moobs so I never touch the stuff

Yeah it's just annoying because as far as bulking goes, everyone says try to put p/c meals in the morning and p/f meals at night, to keep fat from accumulating. So before bed I've been having a whey and peanut butter mixture, which I think might be the problem. But I dunno I might try having pasta once in a while for dinner. Last night I think I drank a quarter of a bottle of nyquil, and I eventually got to sleep at 2 something. However, I'll give my body some benefit of the doubt, as about 15 drunk kids were sitting right outside my room till about 2 last night.

I try to keep carbs to the first half of the day. i sleep like a rock, moreso when I take ZMA.

I would suggest NOT doing whey protein at bed...try cottage cheese or some other whole protein instead. whey, even with PB, doesn't stick with you as long as whole food.

that was a disturbing article about soy protein.. My breakfast is:

1.5 servings of go lean cereal (roughly 20 grams of soy protein)
1/4 cup of uncle sam (more soy protein)
2 tablespoons oats
1 cup milk

I always thought that a cereal that had 13 grams of protein per serving with only 140 calories was too good to be true..

What are some high protein substitutes for breakfast? Preferably ones that don't require much preparation time.
