| | | Potatoes I see a lot of people bashing potatoes, saying that they're bad and how sweet potatoes are much healthier.
What is their GI.. I'm talking about normal (white?) potatoes, the ones used in french fries. Nutrition Facts and Information for Potatoes, boiled, cooked in skin, flesh, without salt
Nutritiondata says they're very low GI, yet I read on other sites that they're high-gi.

If you eat it plain it tastes well... plain . But if you add a bit of salt then it tastes pretty decent. |

| | | Also, what is listed on Nutritiondata isn't the Glycemic index of the nutrient , but the Glycemic load, either way... it seems very low. |

As you said, a Glycemic Load score of 7 for " Potatoes, boiled, cooked in skin, flesh, without salt " is in the ' low ' load category ( 10 and under ) ...so that's a good thing IMO.
Even the load scores for boiled potatoes ( i.e. the Canadian scores ) from the link provided by ' theGOOCH ' still only range from 10 to just slightly over 11...again, a fairly good load score IMO. |

| | | lot of info but i couldnt find the GI. either way potatoes are high. It has only half a cup as serving so that might be why it may have a low load. |

| | No grated cheese, ... I want it to be healthy ,
The thing I like about potatoes is that I can easily get a lot of calories by eating it.
I mean 250 grams of potatoes is one medium potato, it would take me a minute to eat it.
On the other side, I can get the nearly the same amount of calories by eating 250 pasta, however It would take me a lot more time to eat the pasta, and a lot more effort. I'd need 15-20 minutes to eat that, and I'd feel really full. |
