Questions

Im 16 years old, 5'10.5" and weight about 220lbs. I would like to cut 40 pounds total and I have access to a big gym about 4 times per week. I started limiting my calories per day to 1500. Im not sure if im limiting myself to less or too much? Any tips? Also, how often should I do cardio and what types of cardio and when? What types of foods should I eat? Right now i basicly have wheat bread and tukey for lunch with some mixed fruits (410 cal), eggs and wheat bread (400 cal), and dinner i usualy try some new lean cusine meal (300-500 cal). And if i have any calories left over from the 1500, i fill in with fruits and 10-calorie jello. I really have no idea where i got the number 1500 or if im even on the right track so if anyone could help me out a bit, i would appericate it alot.
Thanks

(I accidently posted this in womens. I was told 1500 is to less, how much should i bump it up too?)

I'd say 2,000 cals a day isn't a bad place to start for a cutting diet, but it really depends on how active you are the rest of the day. 2,000 is right if you're mostly seated and not doing manual labor, except for your time in the gym.
