    Snacking at work?

Okay guys. I seem to be pretty good on the weekends with eating often (or getting better at least) but what do you all do at work? In my old lifestyle I was eating breakfast around 7:30 then nothing until 11 when i had a nice size lunch. Then nothing again until 7ish pm when I got home from work.

With that in mind what is easy to snack on at work (that maybe tastes good as well) that I could use as filler? I still will probably eat lunch around 11 and then dinner around 7 just due to how my work operates.

So.. What do YOU snack on while working?

    Snack foods

I like to snack on almonds, raisins, an apple or the occassional meal replacement drink 2-300 calories.

My best suggestion would be the almonds. Filling and healthy.

Also, try drinking flavored water. I eat a lot for taste more than actual hunger. So gum or flavored water can do wonders to hold you over for an hour or so.

I have been told that I am not eating enough protein. Do you have any snacks that maybe are high in protien?

Drink a protein shake, and have a little instant oatmeal or some fruit as a mid morning and mid-afternoon snack.

and I agree with the almonds, in moderation, for healthy fat as well as increasing your sensation of being full.

Have any good shake brands that you could recommend? I am sure many are available but only some have good taste.

my 9am meal is 1/2 cup of cottage cheese with 1/2 cup of yogurt with wheat germ and cinammon, plus 2 whole eggs and some walnuts.

my 2:30pm meal is a banana with a homemade shake from milk/egg protein powder, grinded oats, olive oil and water. i keep a small cooler in my filing cabinet to keep foods cold.

That is an odd shake... Does it taste good? The olive oil throws me for a loop.

Why do you use milk/egg protein over whey?

yes, tastes pretty good. pretty much all thats tasted is the flavor of the protein powder which is from true protein. i use the BSL flavors and they are pretty good.

i use the milk/egg over whey because its better than just plain whey. i just use whey as part of my post-training meal

whey digests really fast...good for post workout nutrition, but not ideal for a 'meal' exactly...

Optimium Nutrition has good tasting chocolate protein powder. If you get their 'pro complex', its a mix of whey, casein and egg albumen...so it would work as a snack or for post workout really.

The protien shakes I am currently using are:

    1) Isoflex (chocolate) Whey - mornings, post workout.
    2) Muscle Milk (root beer float) Egg based - pre-bedtime.

The why for when the muscles want it now, and the egg style protein for when I want the slow release.

Too me they are two of the better/best tasting shakes I have tried. The root beer float is actully pretty decent, I mix both with skim milk, but if you used icecream with that float one ... it would be overly addicting.

Most supplement stores will let you try tasters of protiens before you buy large tubs. Everyone has different tastes so you have to try them yourself. I have had people recommend "the best tasting shake ever" to only have to wipe my mouth out with a dirty sock after to clear the taste.

I keep apples at my desk. DD likes carrots and celery. If you can go carb, try rice cakes or corn cakes.

At my desk today: packet of instant oatmeal, dried fruit/trailmix, granola, natural applesauce, mixed fruit cup (in its own juice), banana, orange, whole wheat crackers, natural peanut butter, yogurt covered raisins.

Can't eat peanut butter in the afternoon as it has a bad effect on my workout. Haven't figured out why, but confine it to morning hours on banana or with crackers or just a spoonful for part of breakfast.

Just found some fabulous granola at Costco. I'm sure someone will tell me it's worse than drinking pop all day, but it's got a great combo of nuts in it.

I'm just starting to work on not eating fast food crap, so am bringing LOTS of stuff to the office. I never finish off everything, which is good, because if there is still food in my cube, I won't allow myself to go buy crap.

Where do you buy yours at? I found Muscle Milk @ GNC but no Root Beer, I did get the choloate premixed and it was da-bomb. They did not have Isoflex either.

try www.vitaglo.com for Optimum nutrition stuff. they have some muscle milk stuff too.
never heard of Isoflex...but if it's just a sugar free whey isolate, there's a hundred of those that are decent.
