| | | In a past life I was a public works director and let me tell you the garbage that is in water supplies. Of course they vary from state to state and in some cases town to town. Remember, some so called "spring" water suppliers have also been tested for certain levels of "goodies" in them, but I agree it is better than tap water.
pay mom the 9 bucks :-) |

| | | Dentists are speaking out about the cavity and tooth rot problem that has started occuring because of bottled water. You see, tap water is treated with flouride and bottled is not. So, because society is starting to drink much more bottled water, there is far less flouride in our diets!
Also, bottled water does not have to go through the stringent tests that most tap water does. Hence, sometimes bottled water has more "garbage" in it than tap!
Finally, did you know that many bottled waters (Dasani for instance) are really just bottled tap water!
Weird!
I can't believe that we spend up to 8 times more for water than gasoline! The next time someone complains about gas prices, tell 'em how much you spend on bottled water!
(:
Have a nice day,

| | | well..
I never drink tap water.
Few days ago I started drinking "Propel" supposed to have more nutritional value than normal bottled water. Only problem is that it costs a hell of a lot. |

| | There is enough evidence to support the downsides of flourides (a toxin, mind you) that American Environmental Health Studies Project runs an awareness program regarding the health risks: http://www.fluoridealert.org/
There's a lot of other junk and bad minerals in standard tap water.
It's better to buy reverse osmosis cleansed or steam cleaned water directly from a water store that does it in-house. It usually only costs about $1 - $1.25 per big bottle, tastes really good, and has been cleansed of a great deal (though not all) of its impurities.
Dasani is tap water, but it's purified tap water, so I don't think it's necessary fair to oversimplify. However, given the recommended retail price, you are paying ridiculous prices for it. (A normal bottle of water costs stores pennies, literally, to stock. Paying a $1 for it is ridiculous).
Water is the most abundant nutrient in your body. Get a good one without breaking the bank. |

| | | Corple - why don't you just get a Brita? They're not nearly as expensive as purchasing bottled water, and they get rid of the poor taste in some tap waters. |

| | | i agree completely with SF. we use 2 brita pitchers in the fridge, that way one is always ready if you run out of the other. i used to buy bottled water but the water run thru the brita is just as good, IMO. & i hate the taste of tap, too. give it a try. the filters last about 2 months and the whole thing is way cheaper to buy than bottled water. |

| | | I drink bottled water, but that's because Phoenix tap water tastes like booty. Here's my take: I'm pretty sure that tap is better for you though. Reason being, tap is regulated by the EPA, so there is a team of people making sure it's up to standards [filtration/treatment]. Bottled water is considered a food product, so it's regulated by the FDA, who has about one person overseeing quality. (I read this somewhere) I do know that if some company gets spring water or whatever from a local source and sells it within the same state there are very little restrictions or testing, if any. A lot of bottled water actually contains arsenic and other nasties.
