Can someone explain my new "Newb" label?!?
I noticed when I posted today that where it formerly said "Registered User" beneath my name, it now says "Newb". I have been a member since Dec. 2006, and although I haven't posted much and am certainly no expert, I think I've read enough and learned enough that I am not a "Newb"!!! I also looked around and noticed that brand new members do not have this label.
AND, I have never posted a "newb" type question like "will doing 1000 crunches everyday give me flat abs?" or "check out my bicep curl routine", so here I am pouting over this new label!!!
I'd really appreciate an explanation, and I'd be even more appreciative if someone could just change it back.

Ahhhh.... this must be new, no? Ok, ok, I will stop pouting.
I kinda liked "Registered User" - it was formal and simple and did not put some inaccurate label upon me, as I was in fact registered and a site user. :P I still dispute the label "Newb", for I am more of a reader than a poster, but now that I have a diary I guess I have something new to strive for.

Newb and noob are different terms. Noob is much more negative. Maybe the term newbie would cause less confusion.
On a separate note, Just a few more posts and I won't be a newb anymore.

What in the WORLD?
newb=n00b=newbie
All within context. To dicern the meanings of such words, look at the origins. When getting your ass handed to you on X internet game, you would be called a newbie, which quickly became newb, n00b, or the stupider "nub". This was basically an insult, and they were all equivalent.
Then l337 went crazy and newb is just...newb. It's still a stinging insult when you're getting absolutely owned, but within the context of this internet forum, it's more like a platonic title.
If you feel insulted by the title, just post more. Sure, you're not a newb in the sense that you know of most of the users and have whatever amounts of knowledge, but you are still unlearned in the ways of our subtle, and sometimes not so subtle characters. Unlearned in your interactions with us.
Perhaps a more appropriate title for you (Bookworm) might be "lurker"...which carries a more sinister connotation, to me. But that's essentially what you are.
