| | | Music while training If you're (not your, or yore) training with an MP3 player, what have you guys been listening to lately to keep you motivated? and please, don't tell everyone you're listening to "Eye of the Tiger" or AC/DC, as that is common in most weight rooms.
Lately for me, it's been jam bands like Phish and Umphrey's McGee that have keeping my ass going. Especially when running or biking, it's interesting to go along with the beat on the fast beat, 20+ minute jams in some songs.
what about everyone else? |

| | Run to Aesop Rock. All Day/ Nike Run, specifically.
To strength train to... hold on, I'll make you a list. Also, if you had bothered to run a search first, you'd notice this has been done before.
Disturbed - Stupify
Slipknot - Duality
Slayer - Threshold
Slipknot - Pulse Of The Maggots
Drowning Pool - Bodies
Mudvayne - Happy
Marilyn Manson - The Beautiful People
Fort Minor - Remember The Name
NERD - Rockstar
Static X - Push It
Eminem - Till I Collapse
Hoobastank - Out Of Control
Godsmack - I Stand Alone
Godsmack - Straight Out Of Line
Nirvana - Lithium
Pantera - I'm Broken
Rage Against the Machine - Calm Like A Bomb
Saliva - Click Click Boom
Stone Sour - Get Inside
Slipknot - Wait And Bleed
Nelly - Heart of a Champion
R. Kelly - The World's Greatest
In that order. I defy you to come up with a better 75 mins to train to. |

Anything by Rage Against the Machine is great for lifting too. |

And it finishes off with a couple of uplifting songs that really maximize the post-training high. Give 'er a try.
And All Day is really awesome to run to imo, but that's a personal taste thing I think. I don't really get people who weight train to folk type music, though. Doesn't make any sense to me. There's no urge to rip limbs off and smash up the place. |

yes I still have antiquated CD's but in my defense I have a pretty slammin surround system in my basement. | What about a pair of these to slam music when working out.
I have a pair of these (in pic), and a 15" Klipsch sub, matched with a rear pair of Klipschorn's (1989 set), for my TV system. I would put the Klipschorns watt for watt (and clarity and brute power) against any "traditional" home speaker, baby (their not pictured, but I will post them to the COL).
As for training music, I just use my second set of Klipsch Promedia Ultra 5.1 (500 RMS, has a dual 8" sub), and this has plenty of thump for training purposes. And, if I cant used it (because of neighbors), I just use either my Sennheiser 140's (wireless), or my corded Sennheiser 650 headphone (and these ROCK the boat).
The Klipsch Promedia Ultra looks like this:
One banging system for a PC.
Worth every penny spent.
Specs here: ProMedia Ultra 5.1
Best regards
Chillen

| | | geez Chillen, the sound waves alone can lift the weights for you.
I've gotta use my iPod at the gym, because they always keep it on the Top 20 station. Top 20 over and over and over. |

| | The Klipshorns ALONE without the sub, will break windows, and for the market the Promedia Ultra is directed against, there is none better, IMO.
My kids are waiting for me to pass.....
Best wishes,

| | | When I had my IPOD I listened to mainly rock and techno/trance/dance when lifting or running. Recently I haven't been listening to any music though |

| | | Am I the only one who doesn't listen to music? Music is for chumps.
You gotta enjoy stuff. I like looking at stuff and how they work. Like you see someone quit or perhaps staring at a person's butt on the treadmill or whatever machine and follow the form they're doing. Like when you see someone running you sort of get amazed at all the body parts moving and all that. Even more so when I run outside, I like the sound of stuff. Or when you cross someone on the run. It sorts of excites me when I see someone afar. Like I gotta go there and say hello or something, you know.
Or when I'm swimming and I see someone getting tired. It pumps me up. Like gotta do better than them and carry the weight.

| | | I don't listen to music when I run, I like the meditative effect.
