beginner ... looking for advice

hi, i am a beginner to all this health stuff so i was just wondering if anyone could help me with getting into shape.

i am 5'11 and weigh 196 pounds ... not sure if thats good or bad ... lol ...

my main aim is to lose the fat around my stomach and my buttocks, i have put on a lotttt of weight in the past 8 months and its showing around those two areas.

i would also like to get some toning on my arms...

if there are techniques that dont require using a gym, that would be helpful. i have some dumb bells at home, they aren't very heavy though. I also have a treadmill

anyone ideas welcome

thanks

Hire A Personal Trainer!

Definately consider hiring a personal trainer. Many personal trainers (like myself) will actually bring basic equipment to your house such as dumbells, exercise bands, and exercise balls. On top of that, we'll show you how to do it right, so you won't end up injured or frustrated from a lack of results. God only knows how many people start fitness programs and just give up eventually because they're not getting the results they want- don't make the same mistake! Get it right the first time by hiring a trainer who not only will bring you the expert knowledge on exercise technique and program design, but will also provide ongoing support and motivation. You're going to need help with your diet too- so try to find a trainer who is knowledgable in this area.

If hiring a trainer just isn't in your budget at this time, and you can't afford to purchase heavier weights, and you can't afford to join a gym...there are always bodyweight exercises! Even those with plenty of access to weights, trainers, etc. often incorporate bodyweight exercises as part of a well-rounded program. The basics work really well- push ups-standard, incline, decline, narrow or wide hand placement, squats & squat thrusts, lunges, pull-ups- both underhand and overhand, narrow grip, wide grip, etc., bench dips, handstand shoulder press, crunches, planks...these are all examples of great exercises that you can do with no equipment just about anywhere. (for the pull-ups it helps to have some sort of bar to grip onto of course- this can often be found at your local park)

Good Luck!
