Body Fat % Question

Morning folks.

Just a quick question about Body Fat. I had a BF% test done in my work gym yesterday just to get an idea of what it was at. The electronic one (where you put in height weight age then hold onto the metal contacts) came back with 13% which we thought was low, when the trainer used his calipers it came back with 23% (which is much more realistic considerng my physique).

We decided that we would do the test again in a month to see what i've gone down to. Basically he said i'm not eating enough... which we already know.... i've managed to get myself up to about 1600cals a day (i know, i know, dont shout) and we are going to try and get me up to 3000 cals a day this month. Also im going to start with some heavier weights with lower reps.

How much of a decrease should I be aiming for.. is it going to be litterally a percent or two? What should my BF% really be, just wanna know what to aim for

Cool

Ok with your body fat... where you aim really depends on your goals... if you are at 13% then you shouldnt really worry about BF%. But if you are 20% you could easily shave 5% off you BF%... i dropped 8% off mine in about 4 months but i was really fat.. and am still pretty fat but im getting there... also your hydration level has alot to do with your BIA bioelectric Impedance analysis.. the electric thingymajig... a trained caliper technician is prolly the best test for you.. So i would figure you are around 20% just aim for a little bit lower like 18% then down to 16% then you will really see the difference. The other stuff that would be good to know is your size.. like weight and such those figures are kinda important when thinking about this. Also you are going to be cutting fat at about 2lbs per week so for me im at 30% now from 38% that 8% for me was 24 lbs and it took me about 12 weeks.. right on target :P ... but either way man.. good luck with dropping the fat.

Depends on how good your trainer is with the caliper...
Can you see your abs? if you can see a small glimpse, I would say you are closer to teh 15% reading. If you cannot, than you are closer to teh 23%. the hand-held has a margain of error for 7-9%, so teh caliper method may be the more accurate.
