Building Upper Muscles

I am 20 170 pds and am 5ft 6in. I used to weigh around 140 but since then have been eatting better and working out more.
I have been lifting weights on and off for 3 months. I have a few questions about personal training.
About an hour before weight training I drink a Body Fortress Super Muscle and Weight Gainer shake and then when I finish I drink another shake.
My question is what else can I do to get my upper body larger? I would like my arms much bigger as well as my shoulders.

Eat real food. Eat more of it.
Lift heavier.
Squat and deadlift.
Rest.
Repeat.

weight gainer sucks its just crap. with what bip said, you need to work the lower body esp squats and deads which induces more hormone release and therefore more upper body growth. It's unfortunate that people your age (and mine) are only concerned with their upper bodies.

FBW 3x a week. eat right, there ya go.

Yeah i really dislike working my legs just something about leg workouts suck compared to upper body. i now only do leg presses and curls because the gym has changed a **** load and i am not sure what to use for squats now since i cant do it free weights because its farking hard and i would fall over and do some chronic damage to my already hunched neck they have this new kind of smith machine thing but its weird it has this pulley mechanism and it slides up and down and kinda floats

Leg presses and curls do not take the place of squats and deadlifts. Do not use the smith machine with the guided bar to do squats.

You have a chronically hunched neck at age 20? You need to seek professional guidance (physical therapy) to correct your posture, not make it worse by ignoring it and allowing it to worsen. You shouldn't have anything even approximating a hunched neck at your age...

If you don't mind me asking why is it that you shouldn't use the smith machine for squats?

Smith machine guides you in a fixed position, it yields far less benefits than free form squats. This fixed position may even be harmful to you.

Yeah, it doesn't allow for travel along your natural range of motion and forces you along a fixed position - one that is more than likely never going to be optimal for you.

Dave, I see you've changed your footer/sig. Happy birthday.
