You can definitely either jump rope, which is as equally good as running and it's a lot easier. Or you can start doing hindu squats. They work your lower body very well, which will in fact make you lose the "bottom heavy" look, plus they improve your lung power. Improving your lung power means that you can start running and not be tortured while doing it.

Hey Jane,

Unfortunately you can not target this area (hip/pelvic region) or any other one for fat loss. More recent studies show that fat in this stubborn area is actually different than fat in other areas and will be the last to go.

First, your genetics play a big role in how you will appear when the body fat is dropped (i.e. wider hips, longer torso etc.). To get to your optimal level, when it comes to dropping fat and maintaining muscle (tone look), you will have to be good with your nutrition (IMO-- at least 80% of all meals are good in quality). I believe they have a sticky here to assist you.

Also, workout wisely. Don't try to kill yourself with cardio or exrcises you are unfamiliar with. Simple rules for you:
-Stand up for the majority of your exercises
- Do not go to failure for anything
- Interval type cardio will be more time efficient and most likely burn the most calories.
- Pull weight more than you push weight.

Goodluck
