Cross Training for Cyclists?

I am looking for ideas for cross training. I am an avid cyclist and racer. As we move into the off season I am needing to cross train to strengthen the supporting muscles, but am not wanting to gain weight or muscle mass. Anyone have any advice?

The elliptical has a similar motion to cycling, also running or step climbing will keep your leg muscles strong without adding bulk.

IMHO - the off season is a great time to bulk a bit. It's not like you will have difficulty losing muscle once the cycling season starts up. : )

Guess I should clarify a bit. Im in California so I will ride year round. There just are not any race's going on(road races anyway). I have tried running but due to bad knee's from my inflated ego days of doing 500lb squats it is very painful. I have even tried running on a grass field.

I am actually wanting to begin the season at about 183 lbs, Im 6'3. Right now I am at 192 lbs. Im trying to lose the weight slowly so I can adjust my food intake and not be hungry all the time. The idea is to increase my power to weight ratio so that I can hang with the tiny guys on climbs.
