Ice Baths: is this feeling normal?

I used to take ice baths alot after running and found that after the initial drop I settled in nicely and could spend up to 10 minutes in one. However ive recently had all the piping etc changed in my hosue and the water temperature is totally different, ive tried having ice baths and its so cold it is actually extremely painful to sit in one, i tried letting my legs numb but i was in so much pain i actually had to punch the wall to and bear it but just couldnt. I have no way of measuring temp of water but could anyone tell me if they simply endure this or if it sounds to cold?

Buy a 2 dollar thermometer and see how cold it is. Sounds real cold for mains water. Do you live somewhere cold?
