| | | Nano or Shuffle - either! After many times borrowing my husbands unreliable 30GB ipod (randomly shuts off, skips through songs, 2 minute battery life), he finally got me a 2 GB Nano for my birthday. I've been training for a marathon so I needed some motivating music, and the Nano was a great convenient size. I don't want to curse myself, but I have had no problems with it, and the battery life is amazing! After my husband's large ipod shut off for the 50th time, he finally got himself a shuffle for his workouts. He loves it - so light and convenient! |

| | | My wife went to Radio Schmuck (Shack), and got me the 1gig Sandisk Sansa & an armband. I use my cheapie headphones, because it's impossible for me to wear earbuds at all. It's got a tuner, you can select your song order, it's also got a microSD port if i ever need to upgrade. I believe it was about $80, and it's the same size as the Shuffle. The armband's almost too small tho |

Its gravy. | why is it so bad to have your ipod in an armband? It's so annoying to hold when you aren't on one of the cardio machines. |

| | | I have an iPod nano, but the armband annoyed the heck out of me (didn't fit right, chord wouldn't tuck away anywhere) so I have a running skirt with a pocket built in to the shorts underneath that fit the thing perfectly, and a little hole for the headphone wire running up through the waistband. Just run it up and under my shirt and its out of my way, perfect =P I use the Nike+ system with it and it works alright - don't try to use those new wristbands with it though, my fiance went through two in like a month, the LCD screens give out for no reason.
Can't run with my video iPod, its too heavy and the bouncing makes it skip. That's why I bought the nano - got it on the Mac website as a refurb for a discounted price. |

| | | I had been using my iphone but it did not take to the vibrations well. I ended up buying a nano and its perfect. I don't use it on training runs for safety reasons but used it yesterday in my half-marathon and will likely use it for my full marathon in a few weeks. |

Do the songs skip when u run? |

| | | New iPod Shuffle I just got the new iPod shuffle and it is by far a better option for runners and joggers than the previous model. The new shuffle is about half the size of the original, extremely light-weight, and allows for selection and playback of various "playlists" on the fly. This model actually speaks to you so you know what songs/playlists you are selecting without the need for a screen and the controls are at shoulder level in-line on the headphones. All in all, the best option for working out that I have come across so far. |

| | | The Shuffle is great if you want the smallest lightest iPod, don't have too many songs, and don't mind just playing them in random order. If you want more storage, the ability to have different play-lists, or the ability to choose a particular song, artist or album, then the Nano is the way to go. It's still small enough that it doesn't bounce around in your pocket. It also plays videos if you ever want that option, although on a small screen, so not bad for some video podcasts but watching movies is a stretch.
I also recommend Sennheiser headphones, as a previous poster did. I have the PX-200 model which is a small over the ear setup. I find I can't keep the ear bud types in my ears while working out or running, these stay on my head and have great sound.
Music with a good strong beat is a great motivator for running faster/longer, I highly recommend it.
