Wink need some advice please

Im 25, Have been fortunate to date in that i eat garbage 90% of the time, sit at a desk all day, guzzell coffee all day long, smoke, etc. etc
All the things that are bad for your body, i do it, and was unable to get into my jeans so,
I have been running for 7 weeks now, and am up to about 3kms before i have to stop, as well as walking bout 2k every day

To get the best results out of my efforts to fit into my jeans again should i concentrate on a better food intake or,
will increasing my exercise have a better impact?

Allso, i need a pair of running shoes, skate shoes not very good
Are those fancy technologically advanced shoes really worth the money?
Will a cheaper more basic shoe be any different?

Thanks in advance

But really check out this one...

Basically... you should focus on your diet first... but if you want to loose subcutaneous fat you should also do excercise... But that being said you would have to run over 50k (didn't calculate the exact number)... to burn 1 pound of fat... (.45 Kg)

3500 cals = approx 1 pound of fat...

1 mile run = approx 100 extra cals burned...

these are just rough estimates from what I have found online...

Eat better + Excercise = feel better!

Your diet is key if you want to re-shape your figure. Also along with your running, I would suggest weight training as part of your workouts. If you add some muscke to your frame, your body will become more efficient at burning fat. Kicking the smoking habit, would do wonders for you also.

yes, please invest in a pair of good running shoes. i would also suggest light weight training for your leg muscles and lots of (leg) stretching. your knees will thank you later.

Good running shoes are vital if you want to keep your body intact, injuries are every runners worst nightmare, so yes invest asap, its definetely worth it! On the other part of the question, I would say rather than one or the other, try to do both, i.e. eat more healthier, and keep exercising!
