Running insensity for fat loss

hi there, not sure where to post this thread so this place seemed the best.
Im trying to lose the excess fat that hides my abs (i can tell they're there!!) and recently read that a higher intensity run/row/swim will predominantly burn carb calories, whereas a slightly easier pace, jogging instead of running for example, will burn more calories from fat than carbs. any truth in this? thanks alot.

I have no clue, but I believe that the cals u burn are like they come out in que, first cals from sugars, glucsoe, carbs, and then starts the fats or wat ever reserves ur body has.....

I am sorry if I am wrong, but this is my understanding.

yes indyrockrule, for best fat loss it is better to do long low intensity jogs/runs than a 20 minute speed session. In a 20 min high intensity session, you'd be lucky to burn 300-500 calories, whereas a one hour jog you could potentially burn 1000 calories, so yes for fat loss, do long slow sessions opposed to short and fast. Some good info on the site i've linked to as well!

Indyrockrules, you need to read around the board a little hon! Lots of info here on HIIT. Awesome form of cardio for fat loss.

High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is intended to improve performance with short training sessions. HIIT 'sessions' are becoming very popular among today's athletes .
Studies have been done about the benefits of HIIT. A session involves a warmup period, several short, maximum-intensity efforts separated by moderate recovery intervals, and a cool-down period. The period of alternating effort and recovery intervals typically lasts a total of 15 minutes.

Studies have shown this method to be more effective at burning fat while maintaining muscle mass compared to long duration, low intensity workouts.
Research shows that high- intensity activity is actually more effective. If you add intervals of high and low periods, fat-burning increases.

The energy cost of HIIT is much greater than that of aerobic exercise. When HIIT is properly performed, you will get great results!!

My best advice would be to compete in a mountain marathon, well over 15,000 calories burnt over the two days when i last competed (or so the heart rate monitor claims)
