| | | Settle a Debate: Acceptable or unacceptable:
A man cycling on the bike path on a hot summer day shirtless.
My wife and I occasionally co cycling with my dad. He thinks it's "redneck" to take your shirt off in public. In most cases I agree, but I think exercising outdoors is an exception.
I'll probably do it occasionally regardless, but I was just curious what people think.
...oh and I also think there's a difference whether you're in shape or not. If you have a huge belly and man boobs, keep it covered. If you are at least in reasonable shape, don't worry about it. |

| | | Last time I went down to Florida to visit my dad I was heading out of the house to go for a run and he flipped out and insisted that I put on a shirt. I guess that's dads for ya. |

| | | I think it is a little redneck but I guess that makes me a redneck too as I would always take my shirt off if I was getting really hot. |

| | | Actually, a true redneck would wear a wife-beater...
I live in Florida and while it is not illegal to ride shirtless (unless banned by local ordinances) and I wouldn't criticize someone for it, it is not something I would do nor any serious cyclist that I know. Plus, you're looking to speed up the onset of melanoma... |

Actually I douse myself with sunblock. I don't care about getting a tan (just look at my avatar) but you still get a little sun with sunblock(I don't care what they say) so I'd prefer not to have a farmer's tan.
Plus I get hot...and I don't consider myself a serious cyclist
...oh and I occasionally wear a wife beater around the house so maybe I'm a redneck LOL |

| | | I bet the people who think taking your shirt off is redneck most likely do not have the body of the person they are judging...hence....the judging.
Ahhh the good ol haters...gotta love em. |

Well, we live in a country where a woman's breast being exposed for a split second during a sporting event caused a national emergency. |

| | | If it's hot, I say strip down to the bare minimum and show it all. Although yes man boobies are kinda gross, I'm more offended by low rise shorts that don't cover up the crack of dawn. Oh yeah, if you gonna show it, shave it.
What's worse it the idiot UPS guy who wears his khaki shorts in January when it's minus 10 or keeping golf courses open with snow drifts on the greens. |

| | | I dont have the body yet to run or bike shirtless, I don't want to expose anyone to that, but I really don't care if anyone else does. As far as it being redneck, I don't think so at all. If you're out exercising it's pretty much expected, here in Oregon people do it all the time. It's only redneck if you're walking down the road with your belly hanging out chugging a beer (also seen in Oregon). |

In the US a nipple was shown by mistake so a helpline had to be set up for traumatised viewers
Stop being so uptight America, I think Victorian England was a little racier than modern day USA!! | | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
