| | | Sweating Question Im 6'0 around 240 so i need to lose some weight. I hate working out and running so im gonna start doing 100 crunches a day and 100 pushups and hitting my punching bag. If someone wore like a heavy coat and warm pants or trashbag to make them sweat more, would this actually burn more fat? or would it just be water?

| | | An out of shape person wearing a thermal suit while exercising is an excellent candidate for heat stroke. Don't do it! |

| No.
Increasing water loss does NOT go hand and hand with increased fat loss. Two entirely different things.
Doing a ^^^^load of push ups and sit ups will not help you with weight loss. Simply put, they are not very good activities for calorie burning. Boxing can be a good activity, however. You simply have to ensure you are moving around a lot and exerting yourself well against that damn bag!
Make sure you understand calorie in VS calorie out in weight loss. If you are not burning more calories than you are taking in, on an annual basis, you will not lose weight. simple.

| | | A lot of people believe that if you're sweating, it means you're doing hard work. That's not the case. Indeed, if you're sweating, it means the work is hard to do. However, if you're forcing yourself to sweat, by wearing a sweat suit, then it just means you're losing water.
In any case, doing 100 crunch or 100 situp is really nothing. It's a walk in the park for your body. If you're having trouble running, I recommend doing other exercises. Most people overlook walking, but you can be surprise by how much you lose by simply making time to walk 30 minutes for a fast walk around the block.
I find that a lot of people have confidence issues when it comes to walking or running outdoors. A lot of people will say, "Won't people laugh and stare at me?" Unfortunately, there are a lot of bad apples out there who will attempt to make a joke about you. However, at least you're trying. No one can joke about someone who is out there trying.
So just go outside, do something. Don't force yourself to sweat and possibly have a stroke. Just go outside, do something for 30 minutes a day. And you'll be fine. It doesn't have to be a hardcore, sweat till you die, 1000 crunches or nothing. I mean even Navy SEALs don't train like that, despite the reputation they give. Just play it smart, and be efficient while being effective. Just take it one moment at a time. Don't think about the future or how you will be like in the future. Just concern yourself with now, and you'll be fine. |

At 240 pounds, if you walked 4mph, you'd burn 544.31 per hour. You'd be doing a lot of walking but hey, if you walk an hour a day, you can lose one pound a week and not have to change your diet.
But the fact of the matter is this, you can walk, or wear trash bags, or do whatever you want but as soon as you stop, it's going to come back. So rather than do something temporary, find something you like that you can do on a regular basis. How about cycling or the elliptical machines? It's going to easier on your body and it'll burn more calories than walking.
Diet is another aspect but let's take one step at a time. |
