Working a Bruise???

OK-

I haven't mentioned it but Monday night underground open sparring was a bit tough on the body. Top of one foot, tendons in neck on right side from a hand, rib cage on one side, a pec, right calve is very sore to touch, and left thigh has a heel mark in the center.

These bruises are from impact. I got hit. They hurt to poke, but the only one that really hurts to flex is my calve muscle.

IF THE MUSCLE IS BRUISED FROM BEING HIT, and it hurts a bit, IS IT DAMAGED PERFORMANCE WISE?

my calve is a light green color and my thigh has a black and blue heel print on it. - CAN I RUN THESE ANYWAY? Or can I lift on them?

be liberal a bit- I think they may hurt for a while

p.s. martial arts outside of a controlled environment is not soooooo smaht.

You need to insure your body parts like the celbs do. lol. Don't you know you're an IRONMAN now, thats practically the same thing. practically.

I don't see any reason you'd have to stop activity unless the activity were irritating your bruises. Bruises are formed by blood leaking in the tissues right under the skin layers right? So I'd think that doesn't affect the muscles.

just be sure the calf isn't a strain. If its not I'm sure its hurting to flex because the skin there gets pretty taut and it pulls on the bruise.

fear not, I think you're fine

yeah usually bruises are caused by broken cappilaries..

Ive never heard of someone having so many bruises besides that special disease and after paintball...but yeah if the bruises are in the latter stages then its probably 100 right

I agree with the others. And this is pretty much the thing where if it hurts then don't do it, althought I don't see how it will hurt

I have had some pretty grizzly bruises and they just hurt a bit while I trained, its not hard to push through. Calf muscles might be a bit worse keep stretching it you might have some deep tissue bruising.

well firstly kicks should be with your shins but we all get the odd elbow or check on the foot.
ice should have been your first priority when you got home. or an ice bath the next day.

i recommened light jogging or walking to increase blood flow - enough to work up a light sweat but not too hard. if you're game enough, get a mate to massage out the sore spots like you do when you have a corky. it kills like anything, but it works to spread the broken blood vessels.

other than that, its just about toughing it out.
