If you're in a pinch till the mail arrives - i.e "
need a substitution " - you could just find a substitute carb source with a relatively " high " GI score to hold you over in the meantime.
A carb with a GI score of 80 (
dextrose has a GI score of 100+ I believe) or above would be a good way to go IMO
Table sugar only has a GI score of around 65+/- as far as I know.
Some quick examples of some 80+ carbs would be......
- pretzels
- Rice / Corn Chex cereal
- Crispix cereal
- jelly bean candy
- gummi bear candy
- Rice cakes
- dates
