I have taken some b4 pictures of my face and if it all works out or doesent work out ill put them up -
Acne is hereditary so has nothing to do with food intake.
Keep in mind that the medication that you will be taking may cause you acne to get worse before it gets better. -

JTM is right
Althougho f course the odd pimple or two may be attributed to external influences.
Im no skin expert but my simple explanation for it getting worse before better is kind of like an iceberg which is more the what meets the eye superficially. The top layer is sort of rid of and then the more pronounced pimples will gradually regress over time..
Something like that, im sure a dermatologist can help to explain it for you if you wanted. -
Not sure what the medical explanation is but from memory it was something to do with the medication bringing out what was under the surface first which makes you skin appear worse....then it gradually starts to improve. Clearasil and the like only deal with superficial surface pimples which you can avoid by keeping your face clean.
I was on accutane (called roaccutane in Australia) for over 12 months.......very nasty stuff but worth it. Can probably count the amount of pimples I have had on two hands since I stopped it about 10 years ago. -
yeah thats right he called it roacutane. It pretty much sounds like a cure for acne from what ive heard...id go threw whateva i had to for pimples to stop

get a referall from your doctor for a dermatologist -
Nah he sead if the stuff he gave me a prescription for doesent work he will then give me a referal to a dermatologist -
Which will probably end up being the case - if the pimples are severe enough.. -
I always went through a dermatologist...as skin care is their specialty.
I won't swear to it, but if I remember right, all the anti-biotics I had to take, EXCEPT Eurythromycin, had special instructions regarding food. I think some of it had to be an empty stomach, and the others you had to avoid dairy around the time you took it.
The Eurythromycin explicitly wanted you to take it with food, which supposedly helped with the stomach pains. I found that taking it with nothing but a big cup of coffee worked best for me. -
I just know that with Minocycline, its "wait an before or after eating" to take the pill. Two hours for foods with calcium/iron in it. Apparently those minerals will destroy the antibiotics. -
yep. all the restrictions except for accutane had to do with lowering the efficiency of the anti-biotic...possibly completely inhibiting it. Similar Threads -
