| | I have been drinking Optimum Nutrition 100% natural whey gold standard for about half a year and I still love the taste. It has low cholesterol and tastes just like vanilla shake . 1 scoop has 24g of protein. It mixes pretty good also, even with my half-broke mixed haha. |

| | | It's always nutritious (and delicious) to throw your newly acquired whey protein powder into a blender with as many extra ingredients as is palitable, then add enough milk to blend, and you've made yourself the ultimate recovery drink. I've used the following extra ingredients in shakes before(sometimes all simultaneously) and they actually taste good:
raw pasteurized eggs
uncooked rolled oats
certain types of puffed cereals (Kashi is great)
peanutbutter
banana
hemp seed powder
blueberries
powdered green foods blend
Your options are limited by your imagination (and your stomach!). |

| | | Hmm, maybe I was mislead, but I was recently told by someone on here that using milk and/or complex carbs in PWO shakes is not a great idea. The more fat, the slower the digestion of protein, which is surely not optimal, seeing as how your muscles are in dire need of protein. As for the carbs, I used to add more than a half cup of oats to my PWO shakes, but was reccommended to hold those off for an hour, to let the protein get directly to work, and then have the complex carbs to give energy back into your body/muscles...
The carbs I was reccommended to use are simple, fruits and such. I've also seen a lot of respected members here advise the use of dextrose in place of or in combo with some fruits... |

| | | ye post workout your shake should only contain simple carbs, that and I wouldn't use raw eggs, as the bioavailabilty of the protein isn't as good as cooked eggs |

| | | I've been using Optimum Nutrition Pro Complex with great results, it contains whey, egg and casein proteins. It's great because it digests quickly as the whey and egg are absorbed and feed your muscles immediate bcaa's and protein then the casein lingers through feeding your muscles a steady stream of bcaa's when you aren't drinking a shake, this also makes it perfect for before bed |

Honestly, ON is available at a ton of places. Personally, I have a VitaminShoppe right by me and they are really low prices, on the web as well. |

| | | So wait, you shouldn't mix your protein shakes WITH Milk? F*** I've been doing this for weeks! I used to ON protein. Should I just mix it with water now? It takes down 12 grams of protein from removing the milk but should I just mix it with water? But hold up, I use SKIM Milk. Is this ok to use? |

| | | No, keep mixing it with milk you'll be fine. The lower the milk fat content the better however. I use half percent milk. |

| | | I mix mine with pure Orange or Cherry juice after a workout, vanilla powder with juice tastes great and I can use the sugars and vitamins after a workout anyway. | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
