View Poll Results: How much do you spend per month on supplements?
I am just curious how much people spend per month on supplements? I just placed another order today and realized that my last 5 paypal purchases is all for supplements. Some supplements, you order once every 3-4 months so just divide that costs and break it into months. This will include energy drinks as well, anything non-grocery related that we use for working out.
ie, my costs:
Multi-vitamen ($45 and last 6 months) = $7
Creatine Estyl ($20 but will last 10 months) = $2
Whey ($45 for 5 lbs and last for about 3 months) = $15
Synthea 6 ($28 for 2 months) = $14
Casein ($45 for 3 months) = $15
Grand total = $53... Wow, not bad at all.
I also drink a lot of coffee, but not sure if I can include that if you do its about $10 per week and $45 per month!!!!
None, unless you count the lactase enzyme that I take when eating dairy products with more than a trivial amount of carbohydrate (lactose) (which would be way less than $20 per month).
I spend about £50-£60 a month, protein & whatever else..
Dont know what that is in $$$$$$$$$
Well, now... with the economy the way it is in the USA that would be about $10,000 pretty soon. Actually 50-60 pounds is about 100-120 US dollars, I think.
Thank you everyone for voting so far, very good and informational stuff for me. Just satisfy the curious cat inside me.
I have never spent a lot of money supplements, and I probably never will. "Most" (and not all, mind you), over-the-counter supplements are simply crap. And, I am personally very skeptical and do a lot of reading and studying prior to purchase.
I prefer good old fashioned wholesome food, and using "types of food" to a dietary advantage.
Until just recently, the "only" supplements I have ever taken are: Flax and Fish Oils, and Whey Protein Powder. I don't buy too much Whey Powder, because its primarily consumed around pre and post workouts. Otherwise, my other protein sources are primarily from solid foods (which I prefer for several dietary reasons for a normal day). I pay careful attention to the Protein: Carbohydrate equation, and my Protein is higher during a deficit diet (when leaning down), then it is when I bulk. And, if you are wonder why, please find some good source material.
Recently, (and for the first time), I am experimenting with a Creatine Matrix, and will be using it for the next 3 months (approx), to see how I respond to it. So, I spent a little money here, I normally do not spend.
The Flax and Fish oil run about about $20.00, and the Creatine Matrix is $22.00; therefore, presently, I am spending about $42.00. And, a lot more when you consider how "specific" I am about the food I purchase at the local grocery store.
Not sure exactly. I said 20-60 but I'm thinking it is more. Right now I'm taking:
Whey, fiber-sure, creatine, fish oil, flax seed oil (5 of each), multivitamin, vege greens, all on a daily basis.
I also put ground flax meal in my shakes, but I don't know if that qualifies as a supplement
Also, once or twice a week I take a Ca/Mg pill along side a Vit D pill and a glucosamine sulphate pill for my bones and joints . I don't really know how much that helps me, but I figure it can't hurt.
