| | | Looking for a good supplement protein shake. Can anyone recommend an affordable protein shake supplement I can buy to help supplement the calories/protein I am missing. I am missing out on around 40g of protein each day to make it 1g of protein per my body weight.
Should I just make protein shakes from natural foods (expensive eh?)
Or should I get some protein whey jugs or something.
Need suggestions, Thanks.
P.S - I am bulking.

| | | Protein Shake Look for CytoGainer. This protein shake is great. 54g of protein in 4 scoops. Mix with milk for a couple more grams, and a better taste than with water. Good luck. |

| | | Vandy: How big are those scoops?
Iwill, Optimum Nutrition puts out a decent whey that is $50 for a 10lb bag (155 srvs). They also sell them in 2lb and 5lb tubs for less.
It's 24g protein per 70cc scoop. |

It's 24g protein per 70cc scoop. | I use ON whey and I would definatley reccomend it. If you buy gold standard or w/e though, it's more expensive than regular. 5.5lbs of gold standard ON is about 50 bucks I think.
@the person who mentioned Cytogain..one of my friends uses this and he is pretty jacked, but I haven't tried it so I can't comment. |

| | | I like Muscle Milk, has about 30 grams in 2 scoops and really taste great. May not be the best but definitely has the best taste of the many I have tried. And it is only $17-18 a tub. |

Definately not a good PWO shake option. Too much fat. You want to go as ff as possible. |

| | | Cynic is right I should have mentioned I use it only as a supplement but not as my PWO drink. I use whey with maltodextrin for that.
As I mentioned I use the muscle milk because I love the taste and I beleive most of the fats in it are of the good variety. I am also trying to bulk slightly so our objectives may be different, sorry. |

| | | I still think Muscle Milk is an awful product, even if someone is bulking. First off, it would be much more cost efficient buying regular food. More importantly, it is loaded with saturated fat - not good. |

Sat fat is not as bad as people make it out to be. A third of your fat intake should be sat fat.
Additionally, <copy and paste from someone I know on another site>:
The saturated fats [in muscle milk] are medium chain triglycerides which usually burn up as heat and have shown propensity to increase metabolic rate.
So, it's ok as a meal replacement, but not PWO.

To me its garbage, and combines all 3 macros in the same serving which can promote fat storage. |

| | | Yeah I agree that sat fat is necessary, and I was adding my two cents in reference to a PWO shake, that Muscle Milk is awful for post workout....but in general, I still wouldn't buy it. |

| | | I can't say it's garbage, as I've never tried it. I usually create my own muscle milk at home using CC, plain ff yogurt and skim milk as the base. |
