Supplements for Runners

Hi!..new to the forum...I am a runner and run no less than 4 miles per day, everyday....Ran my first marathon this past October finished in 4:13...

I take a multi vitamin and a vitamin c tablet each day and was wondering if there were any other nutritional supplements I should take.

I am 46 years old and weigh around 135 lbs...

that's a very good question and i wish i could be of more help. first, i think your crazy ... never been able to do that kind of stuff. my uncle has been in the boston marathon twice now and tries to get me to run with him ... not a chance.

anyway, as far as i know, he doesn't take anything special ... drinks a lot of water and has a protein shake once a day.

I also am a distance runner on a college team, and I typically get in 50-70 miles of running a week. Supplements I take are multi-vitamin, fish oil, and ground flax seed(more a food then supplement but...). I know some other runners who take iron supps and zinc-magnesium supps.
