Teenager creatine??

Hey, im 15, and wanna lose fat, and get my endurance up, i noticed today one of my friends said he uses creatine, and hes in awsome shape...im not sure if its for me, also i dont know if my dad will let me use it, he told me there are some bad side effects, but i dont know if thats true...anyways, i train hard, 1.5-2.5 miles a day, watch my diet, and i drink 3-4 bottles of water a day, im just looking for something to give me that little boost, does anyone know if creatine is the answer? Thank you please reply!

You're 15, you haven't even hit your peak. Wait until you either plateau or hit 21, which ever comes first.

I don't expect MY opinion to hold much weight but here it goes:

I had the same issues in high school. I wanted to be better physically and I wanted to be strong. I worked out a lot and took all kinds of amino mixes and protein powders.

Here is the news flash you will not get anywhere else, so listen close:

When you are 21 or so, your heart FINISHES growing. Until then, it is still developing and turning into what you need for adulthood life. Until then, it is still developing.

As such, in my case, I was under stress from local gangs, I trained heavy physically, and I took a bunch of powders. The stress and physical activity was bad for my body in that combo. -But nothing big, it was just temporary.

However, when you take powders, they screw up the body's chemistry in that the body has to treat the powder as an IMPURE or INCOMPLETE food because it is not chewable. These powders often have chemicals or foods which screw up your hormones or metabolism (things like soy, sugars, or other things).

Ok. -So now here I was taking the powders and overworking. -Add the amino acid mix. Amino acids are the construction workers for muscle building. I took 14x the standard recommended body-builder dosage regularly.

As a result, my heart became incredibly strong, the beat became slower and slower, and I was very healthy. -So I thought. Although my resting heart beat became 56 beats per minute, (and I had a high energy fast metabolism), that good old strong heart would STOP.

Randomly, my heart would stop every few minutes for up to 40 seconds at a time.

In short, I was going to die if I kept this up.

The powders and training OVERSTRENGTHENED my heart while it was still growing. If I had waited until after I was 21, I would have been better off. What I did wrong is I tried to GROW while my heart was NOT READY FOR IT.

So, in short, when you hear of young athletes on the basketball court die of heart attacks (as some have inexplicably), know this:

You should NEVER take anything but whole food.

If you MUST take ANYTHING, wait until your body has reached full adulthood so you do not risk long term health issues.

I train people to get strong enough to lift more than bodyweight overhead one handed. -AND I NEVER RECOMMEND ANYTHING BUT A MULTIVITAMIN AND FOOD.

So if anyone tells you you HAVE to have a powder, they are lying.

to be honest man, if you're taking 14x the recommended dose of ANYTHING, ist not gonna be great for you now is it? at 15 i wouldnt touch suppliments, but im 19 now and use protein powders and creatine when i can afford it. Sticking to the doseage (in my opinion) should be fine if you are old enough. But then im no expert so im sure ill be corrected...

I agree with hawk for the most part. And your friend isn't in great shape because of creatine, he's probably just using it to help him.

I REALLY don't agree with this, 'You should NEVER take anything but whole food.' but that's for another discussion.
