Question whey protein: how often?

how often should I take whey protein shakes? I train every other day, but my training alternates between 30 minute run (entering the great south run) and body training, sit ups, sqauts, press ups, eaxch 100 of them. But when is the best days to take the shakes? On body training days? When I run, and on body training? Or is it simply better to keep protein levels up by taking 2 every day? (I have lots of protein in my diet - whole grain cereal,, chicken or tuna salad, and a ready meal, with water all day.

I'm in the same boat as you. I pretty much have identical workouts like yours and I take 2 protein shakes daily minimum before and after my workout.

However, recently I've started bulking up so I'm taking a few extra protein shakes daily if I feel I'm not getting enough protein in my food. Nevertheless, I'd suggest 2 daily (before and after workout) but that's just me personally and I'm pretty new to protein shakes myself.

Cheers!

i wouldnt take it before workouts, in fact i believe its discouraged. this may sound sketchy but i read somewhere when i first started taking whey, that your body just processes it, stores it, and doesnt really boost your workout at all if you take it before.

Taking it before working its fine..just give it some time to digest...After working out is essential because of the fast absorption needed to repair muscles.

If you are doing to shakes a day...you can do the other shake either in the morning to start the muscle anabolic effect or at night time before going to sleep.
