Whey Protein Suitable for Vegetarian?
A ingredient which has caused concern, Bovine Protein, found on the label of a whey protein tub
What is this?
Is it suitable for vegetarians?
Are there any other ingredients i should look out for?

I can tell you that none of the protein I've bought has bovine protein in it.
do keep in mind that whey comes from dairy, which comes from cows. shouldn't matter to vegetarians, but would matter to a vegan.

Thanks for the reply malkore, i have just learnt that bovine protein comes from the blood, so not suitable for vegetarians

odd. what brand of protein was it? i'm just curious if it was a big name or some oddball off-brand making protein with cow's blood and hooves or something asinine like that.

this may or may not be the same product the op was referring to, but Solgar does make a whey protein supplement that contains bovine serum albumin, which is a blood derived enzyme. as a lacto-vegetarian, it made me a little concerned about this or other similar ingredients being in other brands' supplements. it doesn't seem to be very prevelant, though.
