| | | Whey Protein useful in losing beer gut? So I've just got back into a work-out routine of lifting and jogging again recently and was just wondering out of your guys' experiences if whey protein has worked for you in losing that beer gut of yours.
Any recommendations on how much to take consume and which brand you had the best experience with?
Thanks folks! |

| | I take it
One scoop in the morning
two scoops after a workout
one scoop before bed Whey protein helps but having good nutrition during the whole day works better. Also sprint training or interval training like spinning can help a lot in reducing your gut.

| | | You lose a gut by consuming fewer calories than you burn, simple as that. There's no magic supplement you can take to cut corners. Protein supplements can be useful in keeping your protein intake high while in a deficit so probably worthwhile taking |

Try to eat 500 less calories while excercising 500 more cardio calorie, that should help you lose about 2 lbs a week.
As for the whey, take ONE scoop after working out to help your muscle grow. To lose the beer gut, it's more important to worry about diet and excercise than supplements. |

| | | I also agree with Typhon. Protein powder is nothing special. its really not much different than drinking milk or eating cottage cheese...its just been refined down to the whey/casein so there's no fat and almost no lactose (usually). protein is still 4 calories per gram. To lose the beer gut you need to burn that fat off, while watching your caloric intake...wehrever you choose to get your calories from.
the question you should ask is "is protein going to improve my workouts? improve my muscle gains? improve my strength? improve my recovery time between workouts?"
the answers to those are 'yes, assuming you're doing everything else right'. in turn, adding more muscle, and beign able to workout more...is going to burn more calories, and help you to burn the beer gut off. | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
