| | | Great Thread Before I regale you with my funny story, I may as well give my .02 regarding correcting anyone in the gym. For the most part, I wouldn't do it, for reasons that have been well articulated in this thread (the person may get defensive, may not listen anyway, I may be in the wrong, etc.) I would say something if there was an immediate safety concern (someone about to do something to seriously hurt himself or someone else), if no one employed by the facility was present to do so.
This couple came into a gym that I used to use, and apparently he had taken it upon himself to be her personal trainer, despite the fact that she looked a lot more fit than he did (not that she was in awesome shape, but he never met a Snickers bar he didn't eat...although to be fair, she probably only avoided eating Snickers bars because her teeth were few and far between). It would get quite comical, especially when some of the more "swole" dudes and "brothers" began openly mocking him and she would laugh. He would stomp out (manfully trying to supress tears and warning anyone within earshot that there would be "consequences") and wait in their car while she finished her workout (and she did NOT move with any sense of urgency). This happened at least once a week. Talk about a pathetic codependent relationship!

| | | There was this old guy in the gym the other week. Quite funny to see him using some stuff. He'd get a V bar attached to a high cable, and do about 3 reps while shaking from working so hard only moving the weight up and down about 3-4 inches. He was pritty funny on the cross over cables when he managed to pull the weight down, locked in his elbows and moved his forearms about 2 inches in and out. Funniest thing was when he was using the vibrogym thing they have, and was holding it around the collumn like it was a tree or something, only to fall off it backwards and tip the thing over..
I felt abit sorry for him, but he looked about 50-55 and had a bear gut, lifting weight I couldn't lift and really struggling.
I always find it funny when people use the lat pull like a rowing machine, throwing their shoulders back and forward to get the weight down. Don't know if it's cheating, but I've always sat stationary at about 80 degrees, they seem to go from 80-45 to do a rep. |

| | This fella came in today when there was like only me and some other guy. He was new because on of the guys that works there showed him around a bit and then let him do his own thing. So he goes strait for the dumbbells and does like a set of 6 not even trying then goes to the incline bench next to me and does a set of like 15 then goes to the lat pull down machine and sits on it back the front lol and pulls it down to like his waste then he walks around a bit more then grabs his bag and leaves...wtf? |

| | I don't know if this counts as funny, but there's no "suspicious things you see in the gym" thread.
I was on the elliptical and there was some guy on the floor next to me doing ab crunches, while his friend was on the other side of me across the room a little, and they kept looking at each other and giggling. I don't know what was going on, but since I was in their direct line of vision it was making me nervous, I tried to discreetly check my underwear, and everything seemed in check..... |
