    broken foot in cast - any suggestions on good exercises???

    Hi. I broke my foot 4 weeks ago and am now in a cast and scheduled for surgery in 3 weeks! UGH!!! I can't go on walks or ride my bike any more. I can't do much of anything but sit around. Can anyone give me suggestions on exercise to keep my weight from skyrocketing???? I try to eat healthy - fruits, veggies, juice, pasta - but I am already feeling the added weight on my hips, thighs and behind. I do have a weakness when it comes to chocolate.
    Dr.'s orders - no weight on foot - so it is difficult to do any exercises that I need to do standing. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

    Press ups with your cast resting on top of your other leg, situps, crunches, chin ups, any upper body work you can do sitting down will help burn fat.

    singging loud, waving your hands, bouncing up and down. Just get the bits that work moving and you'll burn fat. just dont sit around all day doing nothing.

    do what feels right; it won't be forever. limit the goodies, though.

    wow yeah thats difficult, when i broke my ankle a number of years back, the hardest part is not being able to move around and do stuff...id listen to ur doc though, it sucks, but just hang in there a bit more, when the foot is healed start exercising again.
