| | | Caffeine and Weight Loss Well I was told that having a dose of caffeine before working out help you to burn fat. So acting upon what I assumed to be good information I started having a red bull before hitting the gym. Now I decided to ask on here as you guys really know your stuff...does this really help at all?

| | | Energy drinks are blah to me. I prefer not to have them. However, drinking a small (6-8 ounces) of black coffee 30 minutes before a workout is a favorite pastime for many fitness enthusiasts.
The additional caffeine can provide a little extra boost. Black coffee will not have the added ingredients/sugar of many energy drinks. |

I jsut have a redbull before I go into the gym and thats all. |

So not only does this contain carbonation, but you also have nutrasweet.
If you must have caffeine, you should at least do plain coffee or tea.
Lots of people may argue that just carbonated water is no big deal, but they ignore the gastric incidences that carbonation produces: IE- Swelling and bloating which in turn causes pressure on internal organs, which in turn puts them in a "stressed" state and cause lack of proper functionality.
Of course, you also have the fact that if you are working your stomach region, bloating behined the muscles by carbonation doesn't help when you are trying to TIGHTEN the muscles by working out. |

| | | If you want to get lots of caffine there are teas that have large caffine content. We used to drink one called "Morning Thunder" which has 5X the caffine of regular tea or coffee and sweeten it with honey to get both a sugar and caffine rush while working out. Check the specialty tea section of your grocery store or a specialty tea shop on line. |

Or maybe not. I drink sparkling water. Is that the same as carbonated water? If so, I don't feel bloated after I drink it. Now I'm confused. What about flavored water? If I can't have my sparkling water, can I have flavored water? |

Gasses are released which cause what I described. Sparkling water, sparkling juice, etc. tend to have less of an effect. Less, more, either way, the effect is there.
When you do lots of HARD work in the core (this includes abs, back, everything), and abstain from all fizzy stuff for 1 solid month, then go back, you would feel TERRIBLE from this effect. One drink would take between 1 and 4 days before you fully get rid of the effect.
The gas and bloating takes an effect every time. -Simple chemistry. The issue is simply a question of if you FEEL it or not. When you are already used to it, or if your body is not that tight yet, it will not be felt so easy. -But it is still counterproductive to what you are trying to accomplish.
Simple flavored water may have its own issues depending on ingredients.
Personally, I see no reason a person shouldn't simply stick to water, and if changing up with juice, stick to 100% juice of whatever sort they choose.
All markets cary at least one non-frozen 100% juice types. These have no added sweeteners and are far healthier than the other stuff.
