Can I lose 10 lbs in ONE month?
I worked out alot in June, but in July I stopped because work got too busy. I just got back from the beach and am determined to lose 10 lbs by September.
I eat healthy: salads, carrots, oatmeal, whole grains, water, cucumbers, chicken, pineapples, peppers, onions, fruit, lowfat yogurt, No fast food, candy, chips.
This is my workout routine, I did this in June:
Run 40-60 minutes
Lift- 45 minutes (I only have dumbells)
Do you think it is possible to lose 10 lbs this month if I stick to my routine? My altimate goal is to lose 20 lbs.
Not to discourage your desire to workout but that isn't a healthy goal. In short someone your size and weight shouldn't lose more than 1 pound a week. More than that and you will lose muscle and have that "skinny fat" look which is not very nice looking. You can however give nice tone to your body and look better in a month than you do now and achieve your overall goal just a little slower, just have some patience with it.
As far as your routine and diet it needs some work.
You need healthy carbs, protein every meal and good fats. There is alot posted here on all that just search around for a bit.
And 200 crunches isn't going to do anything for you. You can't spot reduce nor work you abs that much. Just do a good full body routine 3 days a week and cardio 5-6 days a week. Making sure to allow for a rest day. Again lots of info on the board check out the FAQ's posted at the top in different sections.
You seem to be at a pretty good weight for your height, so don't sweat it much
Is it possible to be more toned with only running 60 minuets a day and with dumbell exercises? I might get lighter weights to run with too.
i agree the only thing i would do is maybe tone up..of course i havent seen pictures of u so imnot sure what u look like, but according ur height and weight i really wouldnt worry so much , especially not about loosing 20 lbs

Its do able but not healthy or wise. And there is no way a girl her size can lose 10 pounds in a month and over half of that not be muscle. Also sadly those last 10 pounds can be hard to lose in a healthy manner anyway. A balanced diet with a 200-500 calorie deficit and good working out will do the trick.
And the banana and carrot comment is well not the best. Not everything should be based on Low/High glycemic. That myth has long been debunked on carrots and bananas as well as tomatos. At least carrots have nutrients, cucumber are just water. I love cucumber but just to eat not thinking they serve me anything. I eat my carrots and I get great results and my PWO shakes have a nice half of banana in them as well.

With an average carrot clocking in at 31 calories and 7.3 grams of carbs, do you really think that this orange-colored, nutrient-dense, low-calorie, all-natural, straight-out-of-the-ground root vegetable is going to make you fat? (if so, you are in "carbohydrate kindergarten.")
Also just on carrots alone here are some benifits. I will take a carrot of false food or supplments anyday.

I just took a few minutes and reread this thread. All I have to say is you can do anything you put your mind to. For a girl 5' 7" and 135lbs making a judgement on how much she has to lose or can lose without seeing pictures and taking her frame into consideration is incomplete. I know girls at 5'7" that would look chunky at 135lbs and some that their body composition would support it. I spent 5 years as a trainer and gym manager preparing bodybuilders for competions. I've seen it all. 10lbs in 30 days is doable! I've seen models lose more then that in 30 days for a photo shoot that were rails to start out with. Train hard, eat clean, drink water, get sleep. And eat plenty of carrots everyday...lol Just bustin' balls.
p.s. This dude lost nearly 50lbs in 14 weeks. And gained muscle: http://weight-loss.fitness.com/showthread.php?t=4234 He's almost 40 years old. Use your eyes and look at what this guy did when he set his mind to it.

I hope its understood I am in no way knocking your trying to help, just simply stating some views on the carrot/banana argument. I think you have kicked some serious butt in the weight loss/muscle gain department whether I or anyone else agrees with how you get there is really meaningless. I just think someone with this posters kind of knowledge would have a hard time doing it smartly as opposed to someone with a little more knowledge in the field of workout/cutting nutrition.
