| | | Chaninging Workout Routine Hi all! I have been doing the same workout for the last 3 mos and wondered if now would be a good time to change. My thought is this:
M/W/F wk1 - Run
T/TH wk 1 - Tae Bo, weights
M/W/F wk2 - TB
T/Th wk 2 - Run, weights
And just keep alternating b/w the two. What do you all think? |

| | | I'd suggest doing strength training 3x a week (Mon, Wed, Fri) and doing your cardio 5x a week. Also, even though you're changing the duration/order of your exercises, they still seem (and I could be wrong) the same as what you're doing now. What about for...
Strength: change up the exercises for each muscle group, to work them at different angles.
Cardio: change your running route to something more challenging, or find an alternate activity like jumping rope for variance.
You also could combine the two for a good circuit training workout. Lots of good possibilities. |

| | | | Good point. Ok....so.....doing weights 3x per week (which is pretty much what I was doing...) and doing something different. (I thought Tae Bo WAS cardo! LOL) |

| | | Tae Bo IS cardio - but when you change routines you want to change difficulty, duration and/or type of exercise you're doing. For example, if you're used to using an elliptical, try upping the resistance and duration by trying out one of the programs your elliptical has programmed into it. If it doesn't have these, try interval training - do so many minutes at a certain speed/heart rate, and then another so many minutes at a lower speed/heart rate. Or, you could look into taking an aerobics class or a spinning class, see how you like them.
Applying this to strength training - if you're doing a standing bicep curl now, try doing a concentration curl, or a preacher curl. Same basic exercise, but it works the muscle at a different angle.
Of course, this is just my 2 cents, take it for what it's worth... lol |

| | | Nah I don't know anything - I just pass on what I've been told, or what has proven true in my experience. Your mileage may vary. |

| | | | Ok, I'm rethinking how I want to change up my routine. I don't think that doing Tae Bo will be enough. I was planning on alternating b/w that and running, but I just feel that if I do the elliptical and running and leaving out the taebo I would have better results. What do you think? Also, I'm thinking of taking ur ideas into consideration and perhaps purchasing a jump rope.
BUT - the programs on the elliptical are only 20 mins in length. Will that be enough??? |

| | | i believe.... i believe the same, tat by changing up your workout it will keep your body guessing. By keeping the same workout your body will adabt. Sometimes you do not have to make major changes just a few minors, this helps two ways, it keeps your body guessing and keeps you from getting bored. |
