In College - started working out, need suggestions/answers!!

Hi I attend college in Boston and began going to the school gym about a week ago and just kind of clueless about how long I should do certain activities to achieve what I went in the first place for.

I am a 21 year old male I am 5'9" and 169lbs - I am not fat at all - I have a bit of a belly and thats about it - nothing dramatic what so ever. I am a vegetarian and have been for 5+ years I do not eat anything kind of animal (chicken, red meat, fish, etc). I do take a daily vitamin. I play soccer atleast once a week, skateboard atleast once and ride my bike atleast twice per week - which was my basic exercise but no matter what I always seem to have a belly (not a big one like you can't see it when I have a shirt on etc) I am not looking to bulk up or get huge I just want to lose the excess belly fat, and tighten my chest/stomach. I basically don't want huge muscle just to be flat/toned/tight - I figured cardio and working out with weight training targeting the areas that need help ie: chest, stomach

It is a nice gym and I began using the Nautilus Treadclimber TC916 which is kind of like a treadmill but you walk fast instead of run

I did it for about 30 minutes the first day and felt very tired/sweaty - the second day I did it for about 45 minutes - etc. For my chest I used another Nautilus product (thats all they have) I forget the name but the image on it said it was for your upper chest - you sit down facing foward

Basically like that. I did 10 at a time - but 50 overall each day.

I spent about 1.5-2.5 hours each day.

Now I have no clue about working out, how to lose weight or how to tighten/tone the desired areas.

Questions:

How long should I spend on what machines?

How often should I go?

How long will it take (weeks/months/etc) to obtain the desired results?

Should I eat differently? (I won't eat meat - but I mean other sources of whatever I would need to get the desired results)

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!

Just totally new huh? Ummm let me start on lifting cuz thats what im kind of good at i guess. You want a tighter chest? I'd say start your day off with exercises that use a lot of muscles or compound exc i think? then you can get to the nitty gritty of doin like triceps or dumbell bench or decline bench. Right now i do back/bicep 1 day chest/tri/shoulder 1 day. I dont do legs just because im too lazy you should though. You can choose how you want your week to go I have heard of a diff part of our body each day of the week/my type where you switch off/ full body every other day. Those are the three I know. I would say about a month before you start to see results but you should feel it before that. 5'9 169 lbs is a pretty good build I'd say im 5'8 about 190 with sub 10% bf If you gave me a bf% number id be able to picture you even more but I would say no more than 5 days of cardio, and keep it to 30 minutes or less unless your tryin to train for something. Its not about how much time you spend in the gym its all about what you do when your there, it takes me about 1.5hrs 5 days a week so I get 2 days of rest mid week and at the end of the week. As for food I cant help you sry I LOVE MEAT! no offense
