To cut or not to cut

Hello everybody,

I have a quick question on what my next phase should be with my training and diet.

Starting off, I was 5ft 10 at 117 lbs. Dangerously low weight with some serious head problems. I decided to get my ass in gear and gain some weight. I thought, "What the hell. I'm gonna get ripped!" I found this site and also found a sport in which I enjoy very much.

Anyways, I've been making lean gains for about 8 months and at about 1lb per week and staying around 8% BF. I was happy with that until I made a major screw up and had a "cheat week." I ended up about 5000-6000k (and possibly more) per day for over 8 days.

I wasn't overly surprised that I had gained 9 lbs and put an inch on my waist. Sufficed to say, I was pissed off (and still am). Granted some of that was water but I'm guessing a good 4-5 lbs was fat tissue.

I've gotten back on track now and weighing in at 158.5. Because my clothes are tight in the wrong spots now and I have this extra fat I am carrying, should I be doing a bit of a "mini cut"? Say, for about one month and try and lose the 5lbs of fat I gained?

I never had a serious weight goal other than to get back in the healthy range. I feel that doing a small cut would make me feel a bit better and help keep the fat under control so I won't have to do a massive cut at the end.

I'm a bit confused at how to proceed and wondering what to do. Some opinions on this matter would be great to have.

Here are some progress pics to show where I am:

Thanks very much,

hey mate congrats on the weight gain.

IMO clean bulk ....i find it hard to believe at 158lbs you`ll have much to cut down to.

just keep it clean aim for maybe 180 at least then reavaluate

good luck
