Question Getting back to it...Need help

Hi,

I joined a gym last year after pressure from a friend to start going, but as I couldn't drive then I couldn't get there easily so didn't go. I can now drive and intend on going back as much as possible. Basically, I just want to lose the weight, tone and gain a bit more strength, don't want to be a body builder or anything like that.

I went back 3 days ago for the first time in about 2 months and did 25 mins + 5 cool down on the elliptical on something like level 7 or 8 (can't remember now). Then did some weights on a bicep curl machine, for the last 3 days my arms have hurt and have been finding it hard to outstretch them. On the machine, I started at 25kg and upped it 5 more each time, 3 sets or around 6 reps. Should I be increasing the weight each time or keep the weight the same? I'm lifting and lowering slowly also, which I think is the right way.

Should I also do the elliptical and then take a break, then go on the treadmill (walking) for a while, another 30 mins or 15 mins?

Thanks,
Luke.

Warm up for up to 10-15 minutes, then do weights. Finally end up with cardio. Personally I stretch out after the warmup and in-between workout sets as I am starting up. The body is going to be sore for the next few weeks; just part of the body adjusting to a "new" active lifestyle. The pain / soreness will go up in the 2nd week but will decrease with time.

Ahhh, good times... I remember when I fell to the ground when my alarm clock woke me up early. Thought I was fine and jumped out of bed. Leg gave out and bam, hello floor.

You are just getting back into things so push yourself and endure the pain a little; picture what you want and that you are running towards that goal. Is it easy to get there, no. Is it going to hurt and require dedication, yes. But once you get there, you realize how much you accomplished!!!

Good luck bud

Thanks again,
Luke.
