yeah it is unhealthy to be underweight however the whole weight sytem for your height can kinda be put to aside if u eat healthy and exercise resonably and if your young. my weight goal is underweight for my height however the only way to lose weight in the regions that i would like to lose weight i have to lose all over cause you cant lose weight in just one place so thats why my weight loss goal is under my normal range for my height

I think that people's weight loss goals need to change.

People become so obsessed over the number on the scale.

I am 5'6" and 123 pounds, which is healthy for my weight. I also have some areas I would like to lose fat in, but I am in no way interested in losing weight. In fact, I want to gain it, but in muslce.

I'm sad for all of you who want to achieve a lower weight, when it's unhealthy to do so. Chances are, you're unhappy with certain areas, and you're thinking that losing ten pounds is going to help.

It might, but I'd recommend focusing on losing body fat, not weight.

My goal is slightly over my ideal weight.

My goal is 200, I know that me getting to my ideal weight (6'0, 185) isn't going to happen because of my muscle mass.

I don't have a goal weight, just a goal body fat. I want to lose a percentage of body fat a month without losing any weight

So maybe I'm the odd one out here but I really don't care what the scale says. In fact the only time I weigh myself is at the doctors. All I want is to look in the mirror and say "Damn I look good" I think todays society puts too much emphasis on numbers. It all feeds into how young kids think that there not good enough or thin enough becaues such a model weighs nothing. Everyone is built different and everyone wears their weight different. So while according to the numbers at 5 foot I should weigh 112 lbs I may get to 120 lbs and find that I like the way I look there. Thats all that really matters to me.
I think that before anyone changes their apperance in any way it's important that they make an oath to themselves that they are doing this for themselves and no one else. If you want to lose weight then lose weight becaues you feel you need to. Don't worry or care about what people think. Don't want other people to look at you and think that your attractive do it becaues you want to look at yourself and know that you have what you consider the ideal body and then be proud that you work so hard to get there for yourself.
I know that once you get in your head that you want to be such a weight it's hard to look at yourself and see anything but those extra 5 lbs even tho they make the curve of your hips look damn good. I know that like every other girl on the face of the earth I will always find something I don't like about myself but that's what makes us take the next step, it makes us say okay I'm hot now I want to be able to run two miles and not feel like I died or now I want to be able to lift so much weight or whatever.
I know that I'm rambling on but there are somethings that I feel very strongly about. I'm scared for those of you who feel like you need to be underweight to be attractive. I want to find each one of you and hug you and make you look me in the eye and tell me that your weight is not who you are. I've been there I've done that. How attractive will you find yourself when your hooked up to machines with tubes feeding you becaues your organs got angry at you for not feeding them? The skin and bones look is not healthy.
And maybe being "underweight" doesn't look underweight on you then thats fine. But I just want everyone to think and stop paying attention to what the scale says so much and pay more attention to the way you feel about the way you look.

I don't care what my scale says either. I just know that when I lose the amount of body fat that I want to end up losing (i've already lost 50 lbs so far) that I'll end up around the 200 mark, If I miss it by 5-10 pounds, then so be it.

i agree, because i might have been # obsessed as a i lost the weight, but now when i need to tone up or lower my weight a little i use the mirror and not the scale. looking back, it makes more sense because your losing weight to look a certain way and the scale isnt showing you that.

I aim to be a size 4 (or 27). I honestly don't know what I weigh right now because I don't own a scale, but I plan on buyng a scale that measures % body fat. It works by sending electrical signals and measuring how quickly they travel through your body. Does anyone own one?
