| | | I thought it was yoga and pilates you questioned about?
About aerobics, it can be good for conditioning and getting some cardio. However, in terms of fat loss it's not really that ideal because it usually doesn't have the intensity required to really burn cals. Offcource, anymovement will burn calories, and aerobics does too, it's just not the most effective thing to do if you think cals burned per hour and cals burned per hour AFTER you stopped training. |

| | | Aerobic Exercise is a type of exercise that elevates the heart rate and breathing for a continuous sustained period. Are you saying this is not the case? |

| | Do you mean aerobic exercise (like exercise with sufficient oxygen) or aerobics, like aerobics class, like this?:
And yes, it elevates heart rate and breathing and it WILL cause calories to be burned, but there are other ways that will cause more calories to be burned faster.
When that is said, it doesn't matter how many calories you burn with exercise if you still eat over that.
let's say your maintence is 3000 cals, this is what you need to maintain your weight with no exercise.
Let's also say that you eat 4000 cals. You will gain weight. If you now add enough exercise every day that burns 500 cals, you have burned 500 of the 4000 you eat, you're now at 3500. You are still over your maintence.

| | | Excess post-exercise oxygen consumption. I'm sure you know about it, basicly, how you burn cals even after you're done exercising, specially with high intensity exercise. |

| | Chillen is pretty knowledgable when it comes to fat loss, he can probably contribute with some good posts here.
Are you saying that you think Aerobic is more effective at burning fat than high intensity exercise like HIIT or weight training? |

| | | Then you have heard wrong. However, we do often recommend weight training because it is an effective tool, both for fat loss, strenght and muscle size.
Can you provide a link to the post in question?
I know I have often recommended against pilates and yoga, this is because pilates often encourages poses where the hip flexors do a lot of work and will become tight, this is something that's bad because a lot of people struggle with anterior pelvic tilt (which is caused by short hip flexors, among other things). I'm not saying it's useless at all, but for many people it might not be a good idea, and if you want to do it, you need to be careful so you don't get tight hip flexors.
I don't have a problem with yoga when it's performed correctly, however, many instructors don't know how to make moves like bridges encourage hip flexor mobility instead of lower back mobility. In many yoga posts you see the lower back hyperextended, this is not good, the back is not suppose to bend that way and the lower back is a joint that needs stability, not mobility. |

I do cardio twice a day (such as stated in my COL many times). This is like the 3rd (or so) post I have seen you posting this sort of comment.
My motive was to be a participant in the discussion with you and karky with good intentions.
I dont have any problems with aerobics or yoga.
Please show me where "a chauvinist is harassing a newbie"---point to a link. In addition if YOU is referring to ME you are mistaken, and you have over 4,000 posts to choose from to SHOW ME where I made this statement.
