New plan for dropping weight and staying young!

I'm sure by now we all know that the human body is stuck in 10,000 BC, where food is scarce and any fat must be stored for the time in between "sucessful hunts," so-to-speak.

I began watching a series on the human body on the history channel recently and the other night they were doing the brain. They went over the part of the brain in charge of using the "fat stores" in times of not having food.

Clinical studies have been done (with lab rats) that showed "calorie depravation" helped to have healthier lives and had an increase of 50% on life span.

Another tried-and-true example are the Japanese. They have a rule where they only eat till they are no more than 80% full. They currently have the longest life span and the most people over 100 years old. Now, I am guilty of this as well, so I can say it. The same is NOT true for Americans. We eat till we are 125% full and than go for the jello. There's ALWAYS room for jello.

Yesterday (after managing to go from 195 to 190 and shoot back up to 198), I decided to give it a try. I didn't eat much yesterday, but whenever I felt I was getting a little hungry I would grab a bite. I had a fiber one bar and a 8 oz. can of V8 for breakfast and then over the course of the next 12 hours I had 2 packets of oatmeal, 2 graham crackers, 4 oz cup of OJ, 4 oz cup of apple juice, a pint of white rice (divided into three parts) an 8 oz cup of coffee with 3 sugars (we were out of splenda!), many cups of water and than to finish my night, I treated myself to 2 taco bell soft tacos, 2 lindt chocolates, a can of fizz ed )or something like that, it's a natural juice carbonated drink) and a bottle of water.

Today I went with 2 cups of homemade coffee this morning, 2 packets of oatmeal, one chicken breast and some white rice around three and a little more white rice at about 6 pm.

I am not becoming anorexic. I love food entirely too much for that. I am simply tricking my body into thinking that I'm going through a time where food is scarce so it will decide that instead of saving the calories taken in, it will expend some of the stores (hopefully the ones on my belly and back!!!).

I haven't weighed in today, but I will hit the scale before I leave work tonight.

I think I am gonna go with a normal days calories (about 2200) one day and than drop to about 1300-1500 the next and go back and forth. The one guy they interviewed said he has himself on a 1950/day limit. I however have a bit to lose first. I'm still hitting the gym, and voicing my disgust when the 2 or 3 anorexic women come into the gym to the "trainers" who help them. Unfortunately, I injured my groin and left hammy on sunday so I can't really do anything till they get a little better.

One last fun fact before I leave. Did you know, your brain controlls how much of the full power of your muscles? Even when you feel like you have fully exerted yourself on any machine in the gym, you have only managed to use about 1/3 of your full potential. Your brain does this with reason as if you were to use 100% of the power you would more than likely injure yourself.

The example they had was this guy was on a train somewhere and there was a rock face they were climbing against. He put a hand up to steady himself and part of the face of the rock broke off and landed on top of him. Had he not managed to put his hands up, it would have collapsed his chest. He was sliding backwards towards a cliff and impending doom. Just before he went over the edge, his body gave up 100% of the power in his arms and chest and he managed to lift a 1200 pound rock off of his chest. This is a little over 1.5 times the bench press world record for un-assisted bench press at 715 pounds or 711 for the un-assisted, drug tested record. Click here.
