| | | Really Concerned About My Weight Loss Well like on thursday I think it was (5days ago today) I started my diet. I have been walking and riding my bike almost everyday and eating very healthy I have had NO cheat meals. On average I have been eating about I tihnk around 2500 or a little less I have been trying to eat more. I started out at 234lbs. and now I down to 224lbs. and weighed my self just now and got 222lbs. Can anyone tell me why I am loosing weight this fast? I am concerned? I dont want to loose it this fast I heard its unhealthy and stuff and someone go over this with me thanks.

| | | Are you weighing yourself consistently? If you weigh yourself after a hard workout, you may be 5 or more pounds lighter than otherwise, due to lower glycogen and water in your body.
This might also occur if you changed to a low carbohydrate diet. |

| | | Being so young, your body can fluctuate in weight pretty easily, and as tjl mentioned, when you weight yourself has a lot to do with your weight. Make a consistent time to weight yourself - like once a week, after you go to the bathroom but before you eat breakfast. This will ensure at least somewhat similar conditions for each weigh-in and give you more consistent results. |

Carbs cause your body to retain more water, by dropping calories you could have lost about 5lbs just from water |

| | | Word! When I was low carbing, I lost a lot of weight at first, and every carb up I would gain weight (even though I ate about the same amount of cals) and after the carb ups I would lose weight again. |

Btw I am 15, 5' 9'', male | The body is regularly challenged by, and must react to, a variety of stresses.
Think about this "logically"
1. Before starting diet, calories were high and the body had a chance to adapt.
The body was within its "comfort zone" so-to-speak: An Anabolic State. It was getting more calories than it needed, and happier than ever putting on the fat tissue. It had, more than likely, more than enough carbs, proteins, and fats, and other micronutrients, it needed to survive.
It was cruising in full metabolic gear specific to the person. (or to you) Suddenly, however, you apply the brakes:
2. You changed your diet trend--rather drastically--from the trend of the past--stirring up a "potential" atmosphere for a "quick adaption" due to the stimulus applied: A. A 5 day calorie deficit. (as compared to a long length of calorie surpluses) B. Calorie deficit WITH a carbohydrate deficit = water loss and the a prime atmosphere for fat loss. Not to mention the "potential" of side effects of being low on carbohydrates (dependent on the person and deprevity of carbohydrates)
And........
Since you were cruising, for lack of arguement ("normally"), you suddenly went off a cliff with your diet approach, which the body can tend to react strongly (both good and bad), and thus....... Requiring an "adaptive response". (specific to you) FEEL THE POWER OF BODY'S ADAPTIVE RESPONSE!
And, be wise within your fat loss goal about the adaptive reponse:
This continues but can vary per person.
This adaptive response is the very thing that can hang people in their fat loss quest.
Because they tend to forget, that after the initial and sudden change, the body will AGAIN adapt (down the road) to what you are doing to it (in training and within the diet structure).
I want no one's spirit sucked out. We have enough of this going on in the world, and need more people trying to have people realize how they "can suck it in".
You take this "adaptive machine" we have and suck it in your mind.....remember it, and remember it WELL, deal with it correctly, and you will earn your goal.
The body doesnt like having itself for dinner, and will adapt and "try to overcome" by making "periodical" adjustments; likewise, you must adapt and overcome the attempts through knowledge of diet and fitness. Here is a self test to see if you are finished: Do you have a "pulse"? "Yes".Then it isnt over yet: GET YOURSELF ROCKEN!
(Chillen)
Remember bodily adaption and remember it well.

He had to go to the emergency room. They used nail polish remover to get it unstuck.
