Taking a break

Hey there

Was just simply wondering if its important to give your body breaks occasionally while doing cardio and so on?

Today all I'm doing is a few excercises (crunches, dumbbell stuff, and pressups) which is a decent break in my opinion.
Normally in a day I'd do about 40 minutes running.. I think its around that time. Around a small country road which leads out to a road, then from that road back to my house. I do this sometimes twice a day, and it takes me about 20 minutes each time, it also has a few hills and stuff so my heart rate would be rising and falling from time to time.

Then at night I occasionally do a short run, dunno why but I feel better for doing it. The feeling after running is quite nice

I sometimes do a cycle which is about 8 miles too.. I think its around that distance anyway

But anyway thats besides the point.. is it important to give your body occasional breaks? Just one day out of say a week and a bit more? I mean surely you can overdo the cardio to a point where your body is being overworked, no?

Just asking because I feel uncomfortable sometimes thinking I'm pushing my body too much, and that overdoing it might do more harm than good.. maybe like weight training I need to give my body a chance to catch up on what I'm doing?

I dont know, I'm confused so thats why I'm asking here!

Crunches and pressups - are they ok to do every night too?

Well, with weights you should give yourself a short break, like a week every now and then. Unless it is extreme cardio I don't see a reason the need to give yourself a break unless you wanted one. You can really tell if your body needs a break if you just listen to the body, if you don't feel like running, feel like ****, and your body just doesn't want to run today thats a good sign for a little break

But main point, you can do normal cardio daily unless your doing HIIT or something.
