| | | Up and down craziness Im a 22 year old 6ft tall male.
Ok, so 3 years ago I went from 273 to 251 (horrible shape, i was heavy growing up). A year went by and I dropped from 251 to 167. I looked....misproportionate at this size. A year ago I put on about 8to9 lbs of probably 6lbs muscle and 2 or 3 fat if I had to guess. I maintained at about 176 for about a year. Due to a bunch of hectic things going on I stopped working out for about 2 months, and ate...not too well. I stayed relatively the same weight the whole time. Now Im back on track I started this week at 176 and now after working out (3x weights, 3x25min cardio, 1x45min cardio, 2x dance class) i gained 2lbs this week.
Why did I gain weight...I cant figure it out? I hope my body isnt gaining it all back after 2 years. Im trying again to keep it on. I do go out and have a few beers once a week, with once eating at a restraunt on weekends, but other than that im pretty good. Im consuming about 2000 calories a day which is much less than i was during those 2 months. Is some of my muscle coming back or...am I still gaining. |

| | | It's 2 pounds, I wouldn't worry. You might not have necessarily gained anything. Weight can fluctuate several pounds just in water and food weight. I probably weigh 5-8 pounds more at the end of some days depending on how much water I've had and how much I've eaten. If you keep gaining, which you won't if you are really only getting 2000 cals, then it would be an issue. 2 pounds though, don't even think about it. |

| | | 2 pounds is noise, just ignore it.
You're going to make yourself crazy watching the scale like that, BTW. As long as you're sticking to a balanced diet, drinking enough water, getting plenty of rest, and doing your routine, I'd suggest trying to mentally move on, and only weigh yourself once a month. |

Why did I gain weight...I cant figure it out? | M'kay...I'm gonna go out on a limb and throw something out that may seem inconceivably wild.
Let's put the facts together....
Exercise burns fat
Weight training adds muscle
You ate less
Okay...check it out: You lost fat, BUT your muscle gain offset your fat loss to show a net gain on the scale. That and the boys are right: your weight can fluctuate. Weigh yourself monthly, focus more on body-fat percentage, stay the course, keep up the good work, lay-off the dance class unless you can thoroughly link it to getting girls phone numbers....because, damn! | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Rate This Thread | Linear Mode | |
