Its not correct to provide a blanket effect on everyone.

For example, this past week I ran deficits of about 400c for about 8 days. The calories consumed were approximately 2200c (MT 2600c with minor variances). I eat pre and post workout meals, and eat multiple times during the day. I will be eating over MT (today) the 9th day (and the 10th day), about 1200 calories. All the 1200c are a surplus. As the past has tought me, I will wake up in the morning feeling leaner, meaner, than I did on the 8th day on both the 9th and 10th day, and then on the 11th, I drop back to a deficit. Hmm......why is this the case?

Projected fat loss: .05 which is the goal......

ROCK ON! With knowing your own body!

http://a505.ac-images.myspacecdn.com...71df6569f8.jpg

Now he's bulking, gained like 10lbs pretty much pure muscle in a little over a month, still has a perfect six pack etc. His metabolism is amazing lol.

BTW the 4k+ calories in one sitting were from hard taco's from Del Taco on taco tuesday ($1.09 for 3 tacos) - he ate 27.
I HATE him......

I don't get it. Does his body not digest the food? Does it not store the energy as fat?...or does it take-in all the energy and his metabolism is sky-high? If he was really burning it, wouldn't he be emmitting all sorts of heat? I know there's a thing called a Body-Bug and it senses your bodies heat to determine how many calories you're burning. Sorta makes sense.

Honestly, I don't get it...but the thing is, it is what it is...we're all dealt our cards and it's up to us to make the most of it. There is no magic control panel or some kind of waste-gate we can set. Some quacks say there is, but I doubt it. I dunno, what do I know.

FWIW, most those people who can eat whatever they want, yada yada yada...eventually a day comes and suddenly they start gaining fat and their whole system suddenly changes. I know lots of people who swear the USED to be able to eat all they wanted, etc, etc...and now they're in the same boat as others.

Possible, but this would have been a problem in earlier age.

Such futile metabolism is near non-existent. Even if it was, it would not be a pleasant thing and would have required medical attention.

His average temperature might be slightly elevated compared to others. Depends....

Not an accurate way of measuring.

I would bet money his BMR is not much different than the average person. Its just a claim with no proof and a near nonexistent chance of it being true.
The 10pounds of muscle in a month is also a false.

Is it a myth that metabolism slows with age or is that true?

Actually, you by keeping track of your temperature every day you can see if your metabolism is slowing down or speeding up.

No, Its not.

things like decreased muscle mass, endocrine changes(testosterone decline, TSH decline, and so on), and just less activity in general can help explain this.

I'm a tad short on time but I can get more detailed if needed.

Thermoregulation is a precise process that the hypothalamus plays a key role in. The body does not allow your temperature to sway by very much when it can. Even a slight change of only 2 degrees can have a vast impact on enzymatic activity within the body.

Your BMR itself does not fluctuate from day to day by much, anyhow.

Taking your temperature is not an accurate way to measure metabolic rate.

How would your body handle this unexpected move? Would it use and store only so much then simply reject the rest?

Its a simple question, and might seem a tad silly but I've just been wondering
What do you think happens to couch potatoes who pig out on junk food/beer? They get the so called beer bellies.

Bears for example bulk up extra layers of fat and then when hibernating switches the treadmill to the fatburning zone and voilą?! Bears could be used in fat loss commercials

I wish it were a myth, but I can tell you it's true. When I was 20, I was skinny as a rail; very little body fat. Now I'm 45 and working at losing a bunch of body fat! My metabolism changed! My 16 year old son is like I was, even skinnier. Every once in a while, when I walk by him, I'll lift my shirt and say, "Look Ryan...this could happen to you if you're not careful later in life!"
