So I recently joined a second gym to start resistance training, since my other gym is mostly cardio and they don't provide enough weights. I'm wondering if i'm overtraining and not giving my body enough time to recover properly but I also like to go everyday of the week. So here is how my week goes;
Mondays: Intense Cardio, Running, Body Weight Exercises, Sparring. Tuesdays: Upper Body Resistance Training, Bench, Incline, Decline, etc. Wednesdays: Intense Cardio, Running, Body Weight Exercises, Sparring. Thursdays: Lower Body Resistance Training, Squats, Leg Press. etc. Fridays: Intense Cardio, Running, Body Weight Exercises, Sparring.
So mon/wed/friday i'm doing my boxing routine, tuesday is my upper body workout, and thursday is my lower body workout. Now as far as my recovery time I do get about 8 hours of sleep every night. I eat pretty healthy, rarely dine out or eat fast food. My week is pretty rough as far as training goes but I get through it. Its not easy and by the end of the days im exhausted but I like that its a bit of a challenge and I feel really good come saturday that I made it through. So what do you guys think? Is two days out of the week enough time for my muscles to recover?
Are you consistently tired? Do you feel like crap? If so then you are overtraining. Personally with all of that I am amazed that you are not. That is one heck of an intense load. I have to take an entire day off after I lift because I am so wasted. That is just the way I lift though.
Listen to your body... it knows more than anybody here does.
I mean with that load of activities u need to eat, eat, sleep, and eat some more. Ur not gonna over train, u might just feel tired b/c ur body is starving
it really depends. are you seeing any gains? if not, then I'd consider revising. Also, was this routine something that your progressed into, or start full-blast from the get-go? Over-training is one of those things that most people worry about, but I always say that this is only an issue with athletes, and without proper rest, nutrition..etc, they will see their performance decrease instead of increase.
Your program seems excessive at first, but I could see the benefits if you are seeing results. If it's been working for you, stay at it.
