Back Dimples

I work-out to improve my entire body of course and "back dimples" are the last thing I think about, but this just came up in conversation and sparked my curiosity. I was having a discussion with a group of girls about the "back dimples" and their appeal, and two of the girls who were rather thin showed them off.

I am male and do not have these even though I've seen them on buff, fit guys at the beach. This is sort of a matter of aesthetics. Are these "back dimples" a genetic trait or something that would develop with getting the body in shape? or is it just the result of both a lack of muscle and a lack of fat in the lower back?

(not a picture of me)

I figure I don't have them most likely because I need to get toned and loose some body fat as well as build my (lower) back muscles but I could be wrong. Since I'm new here, I'll introduce my information as well: I am a male, 5'6'', 137-140 lbs, I am considered thin but I have flabby arms and general flabbiness all over my body that needs to be toned. I've been working out since the last week of June 2007, 3 days a week:

1 - chest, triceps, abs
2 - back, biceps, shoulders, abs
3 - legs, abs

With 1-3 hours of cardio on the off-days. I am currently taking muscle milk supplement after every workout as well.

So bottomline: Are these "back dimples" a genetic trait or something that would develop with getting the body in shape? What workout exercises promote the development of these "dimples"?

Thanks

^^^hahahaha, I've never heard of or seen this before, that looks weird, I'm glad I don't have them. But to answer you I'd assume they're just like dimples on your face-genetics.
