I'm considering purchasing some expensive dumbbells for the first time. I want something esthetically pleasing to help keep me motivated. Something like these:

Just get some standard hex or rubber coated fixed dumbells. A set of 2-1/2-25 pounds will cost you a lot less than the $300 price tag of those.

Bowflex dumbbells have gotten horrible reviews, with all the rattling and plates falling off while working out and what not. Also VERYY bulky. You can get a set of fixed hex dumbbells from 5 to 50 at .50 cents per lb for $275 at any sports store. Fixed dumbbells are by fat the fastest "change." But if space is an issue and you need adjustables, I'd recommend the ironmaster dumbbells, as they are the best, most solid, and durable. Also, powerblocks are good for quick change for circuit training and supersets. So overall, I recommend fixed if you have the money.
