Boxing/Sparring on non-lift rest days.

Does anybody have any advice on the suitability of Boxing/Sparring on days when I'm not lifting, and consider my muscles to be in a phase or rest/recovery?

If anyone has any information as to whether this action can hamper muscle recovery would be most appreciated.

I'm only talking about the punch bag in the gym, also 'boxcersizing' where you spar with thin air like you're having a fight with the invisible man.
