You have an attitude problem dude.
You obviously do not understand how the body works in this situation.
If you want a big upper body you HAVE to work the lower body. Can you get a big upper body without working the lower? yes, however its a much slower process and in most cases does not work as well for most people.
I don't understand why you are getting so hissy. Its a simple comment/fact. Ill say it very simple so you don't interpret it wrong again.
If you want a big upper body then you should work the lower body. Don't want to get bulky legs? Well, stick with low reps such as in the 3-5range. This will allow for the hormonal benefits (that will lead to better gains in the UPPER body) while drastically lowering the pace of "bulking" of the legs.
"keep them active" Im asking what do you mean? Are you afraid their going to fall off if you don't run or what?
Is your goal better cardiovascular health and a stronger respiratory system/better stamina? CNS/muscle fiber contraction timing/impoving running stride (overall timing).
"keep them active" is vague, do you have poor blood circulation to the legs?
Now, which one of those were you meaning to say when you said "keeping them active"?
